Ardclinis News October 2008

Despite the lack of 'summer' and the copious amounts of rain in the Glens this year, it didn't deter the staff, volunteers and clients at Ardclinis.
Programmes ran as normal and the bad weather is set to make for great sport along the local waterways in the coming weeks.

Young people from Moyle enjoyed a 'Summer Splash' and fun camps during July and August.

There were Royal Yachting Association courses in
Level 1&2 Power Boating and Very High Frequency Short Range Certificate Radio.

As usual there was teambuilding and fun away days for companies and multi-activity days for summer schemes as well as youth and church groups, Scouts and Guides.

For adults, there was Coasteering, a
Leave No Trace training programme
And Rescue Emergency Care Stage 2 First Aid.

The ever-popular mobile climbing tower made welcome appearances at fairs and festivals across the country and there were expeditions in the Mournes.

Weather aside, there was lots of fun and many people not only gained training and qualifications, but also discovered a new-found spirit of adventure.

As Autumn is upon us and Winter draws nearer, the Indian summer doesn't seem to be appearing but Ardclinis will endeavour to deliver our popular range of activities regardless.

It's a good opportunity to get kayaking as there is lots of water around in rivers and lakes after all that rain.

Level 1&2 and Safety Powerboat courses will be taking place

REC First Aid level 1&2 can be delivered on arrangement.

The Leave NO Trace two-day training programme will also take place
Our renowned teambuilding and away-days will run right through autumn and winter - maybe we will get our summer a little later than usual!

Lots of outdoor and indoor activities will be available throughout the year and these include team building initiative challenges, climbing, abseiling, archery competitions, raft and bridge building, rocket projects, expeditioning, orienteering, mountain scrambles, kayaking, open canoeing and power boating. We can organise a local story telling legend for some fun indoor activity or clients can learn to create some music, dance or get busy in the kitchen with some cookery.

You can take your team away for a day just before or after Christmas, enjoy treasure hunts or other fun activities before finishing up at a fine local restaurant for a bite and pub for a bit of music and craic.
Annual staff parties can also be catered for in a similar way.
