Extract from Belfast Telegraph 29th October 2008
Mrs Anne Bowen established Northern Ireland's first and very successful commercial outdoor adventure centre Ardclinis in 1990, and has built it into a thriving province wide company.
Based in Cushendall, Ardclinis Outdoor Adventure provides a comprehensive service covering many areas of adventure learning with community-based team working initiatives and courses in many aspects of business effectiveness, events for managers and team leaders, as well as courses for volunteers and trainers.
The company is also renowned for its very popular marine power boating courses, first aid courses, team building, corporate expeditions and climbing, plus much more.
She is expanding the business with a new facility based at Garron Point, Carnlough to open in September.
Just this year Anne won the Best British Female Inventor and Innovator 2008 in the capacity building sector in the pretigious competition run by the Global Woman Inventors and Innovators Network.
She was nominated for our award by one of her Field Officers, Nicola Murray who said: "Anne is the most wonderful lady who has the unique ability to empower any person and bring out all the abilities and skills they never thought they had. She has also triumphed over personal adversity as she lost her husband and business partner Dave three years ago to cancer, but has bravely carried on the business with continued growth"
