Anne Bowen from Cushendall is used to literally climbing over obstacles to achieve her goals but this time she has beaten competition to be named the best British Female Inventor and Innovator in the Capacity Building category by the Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network.
Anne was presented her award at the Cardiff City Hall in front of hundreds of female businesswomen and beat 40 other nominations for the title.
The award for capacity building was recognition of Anne's achievements with her company Ardclinis Outdoor Adventure for team building and staging events that bring people together. However, Anne is dedicated to the local community as well because she also is about to embark on a project providing vulnerable adults with outdoor adventures.
Ardclinis also work with young people to develop the ability to work as a team through achieving goals. These goals include climbing walls, building bridges and overcoming obstacle courses.
Anne provides herself on working with the local community and employs a team of 10 to work on the various courses and activities Ardclinis stage. Being an outbound company, much of her work is also dedicated to the environment and carbon off-setting.
Anne adds:
"When the GWIIN called to say I had been short listed to receive an award I couldn't believe it. We've worked hard to put Ardclinis and the local area on the map and it was amazing to be recognised for what we do. Ardclinis was founded 19 years ago and we were the first outdoor activity company in Northern Ireland. It's testament to the team and all the people that have been involved with our activities that we should be recognised by a National organisation."
Ardclinis are now taking bookings for their summer camps for children between 8 and 14. For more information about all of their activities contact 028 2177 1340 or www.ardclinis.com.
